One interesting thing that I did notice was that quite a few pictures advertising their clothing did not seem to be their photos. For instance, I saw that they were using a Victoria's Secret photo to advertise swimsuits. Another example I saw was that on the link for one of their trench coats, they were showing pictures of a trench coat that was not the one they were selling. It very clearly said Burberry on it and evidently was one (of perhaps multiple?) photos taken from another source and edited to have a Tidestore watermark.
ReplyDeleteWhile this doesn't really pertain to the giveaway at hand, I'm still intrigued by the ethics of such practices and am perhaps interested in getting in touch with the representatives over at Tidestore.
Jysla, I would love to know what you think of this and any opinions you may have in regards to the store, their clothing, etc!
It is very misleading and unethical advertising although, unfortunately, quite common also. I think that since most of the clothing on the site is modelled off the high end designer brands, they feel that it is somewhat justified to use the photos as a form of advertising and to persuade people to buy the pieces.
ReplyDeleteNot only does this happen with a majority of the Chinese online stores, I see this happen quite a lot with some eBay sellers too - I just hope that people are not misled into thinking that it is indeed the same product being sold.
Thanks for the insightful comment! Not sure whether Tidestore would be willing to change their advertising tactics (perhaps too costly), but it is a good point. x
